Italian voice

I've seen that you've a section exclusively for telephony voices (8khz), but no telephony voice exists for Italian. So the question is: it's possible to use the actual Italian voice for telephony application with asterisk?

As far as I know you can still use 16k voices in most cases, it's simply that the 8k voices are lighter weight and the signal rate loss isn't noticable over 8k telephone lines.

That said, I'm not an expert on Asterisk, just Cepstral's voices. It could be worthwhile to simply download the free demo and see if you have any issues before purchasing a voice/concurrency license.

Also: you may get a more detailed response from other users in the Asterisk section.

Asterisk has not supported 16kHz sounds, how ever, either one of the last releases 1.4.4 or it may still be under development, is going to support 16kHz as well as the newer Polycom phones.

Hi Justin,
thanks for your reply. I've put in production a Cepstral voice with a modified app_cepstral and all seems to work without problems.

Now a question: have you info about an ASR system that works with asterisk (for italian language)?

Off the top of my head I don't know of any speech Recog for Italian. If I come across something I will let you know.
